Odyssey Institute skates past Tonopah Valley with ease
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Yuma Catholic, the Odyssey Institute Minotaur were happy to have found some success on Thursday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 42-12 blowout they got on the road against Tonopah Valley. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Odyssey Institute also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Odyssey Institute's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jahmaria Flowers, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Gwendolyn Carricart was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Odyssey Institute's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. As for Tonopah Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Odyssey Institute's road trip will continue as they head out to face River Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for Tonopah Valley, they will square off against Kingman at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Kingman is ranked 286th, while Tonopah Valley is ranked 283rd).
